Training and Boarding with that "Magic Right At Home" Feeling

Ohana Rescue and Rehabilitation was created as a way to give training to shelter animals, and help them find committed and happy homes.

Giving these dogs a home to live during their time in rescue, and a formal training education while they are looking for a new home, gives them such a greater chance of finding appropriate placement!

Families NEED safe dogs. With so many options at a shelter/rescue, it can be daunting to make sure they are receiving a safe and structurally sound companion.

Every dog who enters our program is Professionally evaluted for soundness, sensitivies, and safety. We test for Body Handling, Resource Guarding, Animal Aggression, Human Aggression, tolerance to children/dogs/cats/noises/public places, & more. We carry a responsibility to our community to only adopt out safe dogs.

We have a passion for rescuing, we have a passion for placing families with amazing family companions, and we have a passion for saving lives, and with that, Ohana Rescue and Rehabilitation was born.

Ohana's Available Fosters

She is not dog or cat friendly, but does adore kids. She is off leash reliable and understands her basic and advanced obedience skills.

Pet Matching Program

Our pet matching program was created as a way to help find families who want to adopt the tools to feel confident going through a shelter or rescue.

With our Pet Matching Program, we will have your family complete a compatability & preference assessment.

Next, we will go over your wants and needs in a dog, and we’ll coordinate with the many connections we have throughout the state to compile a handful of dogs who would be good matches.

Once you’ve narrowed down that list to 2-3 dogs, we’ll go meet them and perform temperament evaluations to ensure they’re safe candidates.

Finally, you’ll have the option of meeting them and adopting them, or allowing us to pull them into our program for you. We’re flexible.

Once they’re adopted by you, you have the option of 1 week of board and train through us, or unlimited private lessons for life. If we end up pulling that dog in our program, we’ll put training into them, medical care, get their supplies ready for you, and they’ll be ready to go home within a few short weeks.

Our Pet Matching Program is $500 and includes all of the time necessary to evaluate multiple dogs you’re interested in, 1 week’s worth of board and train, or unlimited lifetime lessons.

We take the time and busy work in finding your perfect family companion!

Our rescue operates from our home, or other foster homes.

Our rescue dogs learn how to behave and live in a household, long before their “Go Home” Day.

We love this question. Every dog in our program receives our Temperament Soundness Testing.

We test for Sound Sensitivity, Body Awareness, Sensitivity to Grooming/Handling, Environmental Sensitivity, Dog Sociability, Cat Sociability, and Child Sociability.

We have a No-Tolerance policy for aggression. We never bring dogs into our program who would be a risk for our community. We have no issues, reconsidering a dog once it enters our program, if an animal starts displaying aggression. We have a 2 week intake process upon entering our program, before we label each dog as available, for this reason.

In addition, every dog in our program undergoes Professional Evaluations with other trainers, and pet professionals.

For every family, the most beneficial aspect we include in each adoption is lifetime support. We are here, rain or shine, to help with any issues that pop up along the way.

Our fosters live in our home, and become our dogs for the duration of their rehab. We want the absolute best for them, AND their future homes.

  • Free Boarding For Life. We want our fosters to always have a safe place to stay when their families can’t take them along. Holidays are excluded.
  • A Free Leash, E-Collar (If Applicable), 7 Days worth of their diet, and truly anything they need to be successful. Some dogs need orthopedic beds, some dogs need very specific medical equipment. We include these things for the success of the dog.
  • Fully Vaccinated, Health Clearance by our Veterinarian, Spayed/Neutered (or sent home on a Spay/Neuter contract), and any other medical care they may need (Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Orthopedic, Etc.)
  • Access to Our Monthly Support Classes & Monthly Pack Walks
  • Access to our PDF Training Documents

Yay! We’re so excited you have interest in one of our fosters!

Please contact us at 435-580-3125 or ohanarescueandrehab@gmail.com and we can start the process!

We require an application before scheduling a meet and greet so we can make sure we’re not wasting your time with a dog that won’t meet your lifestyle.

Once we’ve scheduled the meet and greet, we evaluate whether you’re a right fit for each other. At times, we have a pool of committed adopters and we have to make a decision between many great families. This is always the hardest part for us, but our responsibility is placing each dog in the home that we feel stands the least likely chance of returning our dogs, or providing a lesser quality of life. If you weren’t selected, that does not mean we didn’t like you! We are more than happy to help you find your best friend through our pet matching services, or put you on a waitlist for our future fosters!

If we feel you’re a great fit, we will contact you to meet for a MANDATORY consultation, and require a deposit to hold your dog. We do this so we can purchase their personalized equipment, and cover a fraction of their veterinary costs.

Once you’ve completed the mandatory consultation, we schedule your dog’s Go Home Day, which consists of us bringing your dog home to you and teaching you how to integrate them into your household, making sure you feel completely comfortable and prepared for your dog. We also use this consultation as a home check to ensure your home is suitable for a companion. At your dog’s go home appointment, the remainder of their adoption fee will be due. We give a 2 week trial period, where their adoption fee is 100% refundable. If for any reason a dog is not doing well in their new home, we will refund their entire fee, and we require them to come back to us. No questions asked.

We are in the process of gaining our 501c3 licensing.

This has been a slower process as our funds go towards the dogs in our care.

We currently cannot accept monetary donations from the public, and everything we spend on the program comes out of our own pockets.

Every adoption fee we take is placed into the next dog (s) who comes into our care.

We are however, hoping to gain our 501c3 status within the next year. This is a rigorous process, and we don’t feel comfortable sitting by and watching shelters and rescues explode, and the overpopulation crisis continue, until we are capable of getting there.

We would recommend utilizing our Pet Matching Program to ensure any dog you receive is safe and sound. The training that goes into our Pet Matching Program is minimal and optional.

The training our own personal fosters undergo is not optional.

We want our dogs to go to homes who value a HEALTHY minded dog, see the benefit in what we’re investing for the dogs in our care, and can also see the benefit in what we bring to their family.

There are oodles of rescues and shelters, who require the bare minimum from you, and require a minimal adoption fee because of it.

The health, happiness, and stability of the dogs we take on, is the absolute MOST important thing to us. Most of them have bounced from home to home their entire lives, and we don’t want that to continue being the patterns they see in their lives.
